The Project for the Development and Prototype Production of a Lightweight, Composite Clutch Plate with High Thermal Conductivity with the Powder Aluminium Foaming Method was awarded within the scope of the “Carbon Challenge” competition.

The Project of Development and Prototype Production of High Thermal Conductivity, Lightweight, Composite Clutch Plate with Powder Aluminum Foaming Method made by Valeo Automotive Industry and Trade Inc. and supported by Fatih Sultan Mehmet Vakıf University ALUTEAM team within the scope of TÜBİTAK 1501-Industry Research Technology Development and Innovation Projects Support Program was evaluated in the "Carbon Challenge" competition held globally. In the competition, in which 8 countries, 17 factories and a total of 50 projects participated, the research under the direction of VALEO supported by ALUTEAM became one of the 3 winning projects.

The project, which was carried out in the 2019-2021 period, aims to reduce the weight of the system, without sacrificing thermo-mechanical performance, with various solutions such as ventilation ducts or aluminium foam application in cast iron parts, which are the heaviest parts of the clutch system, and composite structures, thus reducing carbon dioxide emissions from the transportation sector.
