The project called as “Aluminum Manufacturing Technologies Education, Research, Test Center” realized under the collaboration with our univesity and Entrepreneur Aluminum Industrialists and Businessmen Association (GALSİAD) was among the 40 projects worth supporting which have been among the 278 projects included within the framework of the Financial Support Program of the Information Development Economic Development Program (ISTKA). Within this context the signing ceremony of the grant contract was realized at İSTKA center participation with our rector Prof. Dr. Musa Duman, Dean of MMF Prof. Dr. Fevzi Yılmaz and  Associate Dean of MMF and Project Coordinator Asst. Assoc. Dr. Ebubekir Koc.

The project, which is one of the most concrete examples of university-industry cooperation, will exceed 2 million TL with the contributions of our industrialists. For creating Turkey's first center of excellence aluminum axis target an important development came true within the project one of the most important representative of the aluminium sector GALSİAD partnership.

Within the scope of the project, three main fields of activity were identified:

  1. Training and supporting qualified workforce in the production of aluminum,
  2. Research and development activities with aluminum axis,
  3. Realize Accredited Aluminum Product Testing.

In order to increase the existing capacity of the sector and to enter into high value added activities, there will be many activities under these three headings. Especially for increasing the skills and quality of the personnel who will work on the production lines, a comprehensive training program with theoretical and weighted application content was prepared.

Prototype production will be realized from design to application which will contribute to the production of original products of the sector within the research and development activities. The project will contribute to the sector especially in the fields of high value added, design and production of difficult to produce products with the rapid prototyping capacity being included in the center with the support of İSTKA. Within the scope of test activities, an ability to perform all tests with aluminum axis shall be provided.
