The "Şahi Cannon" model, which was cast in the period of Fatih Sultan Mehmed Han, was reproduced with the laser sintering method in ALUTEAM in the 561st year of the conquest of Istanbul within the framework of the project titled "Engineering Studies of the Fatih Sultan Mehmed Period and Its Reflections on Today" initiated under the coordination of our university, Faculty of Engineering and Architecture Dean Prof. Dr. Fevzi YILMAZ.

All stages of the model, from the design stage to the production with laser sintering, were prepared by the ALUTEAM team. Within the scope of the study, a realistic design was aimed, thanks to the information gathered with the contributions of experts in the fields of history, engineering and language. The ball, an example of which is exhibited in the Fort Nelson Museum of Portsmouth city in England, was modeled in three dimensions with all its details.

The model consisting of two parts, with the barrel part where the gun is loaded and the combustion chamber where the explosion takes place, merges with each other with auger detail. The inscription on the forehead of the barrel contains the information that it was made by Ali Usta in the month of Hijri 868, in addition to the prayer "Help Allah Sultan Mehmed bin Murad Han". The ball, modeled in its own dimensions, was prepared for production by being scaled down to 1/25 scale. The prepared 3D design plastic powders were produced layer by layer by sintering them with the help of laser. The sintered model was created by sandblasting the dust in the production area.
